Custom Mattress Sizes
Custom sized mattresses usually fall within two categories:
- An inexpensive polyurethane foam mattress cut and upholstered to the sizing required. A mattress made with these materials would usually cost less than $500, regardless of how large. This type of mattress is best sourced from your local foam upholstery shop.
- A high quality, hand crafted mattress from our carefully curated range of mattress brands including Berkeley Ergonomics, Green Sleep, Sleeptek and Vispring. Uncommon mattresses made to order start from the low $1,000's in a smaller size (something comparable to a standard twin), to the low $2,000's for a very large mattress, such as a size similar to king.
The Mattress & Sleep Company has the capability to source just about any custom mattress dimensions. Due to the nature of a custom size mattress, it is difficult to list the options online. We suggest browsing mattresses from brands including Berkeley Ergonomics, Green Sleep, Sleeptek/Obasan and Vispring.
There is often a surcharge for a mattress made to custom dimensions. This fee usually ranges from 10% to 25% on top of the next closest comparable standard size. However, Vispring charge solely based on the actual finished size. This would mean that a mattress made smaller than a queen, yet larger than a double, would price out somewhere in between these two standard sizes.
One final consideration to keep in mind while shopping for custom sized mattresses is that if selecting a model with pocket springs, we would often be limited by the addition or subtraction of rows of springs to achieve the closest possible outcome for the size you require. Because of this, it is not always possible to be 100% exact with finished dimensions. The one exception again would be Vispring, as they craft their calico cotton pocketed springs specific to the mattress, and thus have a great degree of control over all variables in the manufacturing process.
