Care Advice

Unless noted otherwise, all Brun de Vian-Tiran products are to be dry-cleaned or hand-rinsed only. Under normal conditions of use, a blanket or a quilt needs no more than one cleaning per year, as the natural fibres do not attract or retain dust, and only slightly absorb greasy substances.

Natural fibres absorb moisture rather than proteins. This is the exact opposite of synthetic fibres such as polyester, which do not absorb moisture, yet absorb proteins. For this reason, synthetic fibres do not stay hygenic for very long, where-as natural fibres do.

To hand-rinse your blanket, simply fill a bathtub with cool water and a small amount of mild pure soap. Dip the blanket gently into the tub, do not agitate. Allow the blanket to soak for a few hours. Drain the tub, fill once again with cool water, without detergent to rinse. Do not wring the blanket, simply allow to air dry. To speed up the process, you may roll the blanket in towels to help remove moisture.

Textile de France

All blankets crafted by this incomparable manufacturer include the "Textile de France" certificate. This means that each blanket is fully made in France: spinning, weaving, dyeing and finishing. This is very different from an item being labelled as "Made in France." This label means such a product could be finished in France, but with fabrics which were imported from elsewhere.

Eight Generations of Manufacturers

Since 1808, the year when Laurent Vian and Charles Tiran set up their wool mill on the banks of the Sorgue River in Vaucluse, eight generations of uninterrupted family tradition have carried on the wool master's trade at the Brun de Vian-Tiran factory.

Specialist in Natural Fibres

Inventor of the 100% mohair blanket in 1962, today Brun de Vian-Tiran creates blankets and throws in Peruvian and Bolivian Alpaca and Llama, in Iranian, Chinese and Mongolian cashmere, in Yak, in Asian camel, in merino from France and from Australia and of course much more.
