This amazing white goose down has the highest loft of any down available anywhere in the world. It was originally developed for the very high end Japanese market.First used in technically sophisticated jackets, it was later used in their most sumptuous duvets. Starting with beautiful Polish White Goose down, it goes throughadditional sorting processes to result in only the largest, most pure clusters of down. This exquisite down has some of the largest and prettiest clusters we have everseen and even some clinging ability like Eiderdown. It is incredibly soft and lightweight, providing comfort for generations. The duvets are covered in a luxurious andopulent Tencel-Cotton batiste blend from Germany.

This down tests out at 1,000 loft, verified by the International Down and Feather Laboratory in Salt Lake City, Utah. This lab is recognized as the best in the world, and is used by the US and Canadian governments.

Embassy down is rare. The Mattress & Sleep Company has access to the largest supply, although not all orders are able to be filled. The best way to ensure we're able to fill your order is to consider the summer fill weight. There isn't much need to go classic or winter with this high loft down anyhow.

About Fill Power (Loft)

Fill power is not the only aspect of a down duvet that determines quality, yet it is a very important factor in determining the potential total warmth of the duvet. For example, the down contained in a Queen Winter Weight Estate duvet would take up approximately 23,400 cubic inches of space (650 loft * 36 ounces of fill). A Maple Creek duvet in the same Queen Winter Weight actually adds up to 29,750 cubic inches (850 loft * 35 ounces of fill).

Perhaps most importantly, a Queen Classic Weight Maple Creek duvet equals 22,950 cubic inches. This means that a classic weight Maple Creek duvet will offer approximately equal warmth as a winter weight Estate. Higher quality down requires less filling, resulting in a lighter duvet better suited to year-round use. Since heavier duvets are more prone to disturbing rest, the lightest duvet possible is always best.

When we consider that higher quality down fillings also operate efficiently in larger temperature ranges, there is a clear reason for investing in a higher-quality fill.

Purchasing Advice - Summer, Classic or Winter?

After considering the basic concept of Fill Power or Loft, other important factors include room temperature, local climate and whether you tend to sleep warm or cool. Generally, warm sleepers in a warm bedroom will do better with a Summer duvet while cool sleepers in a cool bedroom will be better off with a Classic duvet. A Winter duvet is generally only recommended in lower fill powers or when the bedroom is not heated or extremely cool.

Buying Advice! If you're unsure, please start with a summer fill. It is possible to add additional down to a St Geneve duvet at any point in the future. However, due to the one-way nature of the European baffle boxes, it is not possible to remove down from a duvet. We offer an excellent programme with preferential pricing to help facilitate the addition of down to any St Geneve duvet purchased from The Mattress & Sleep Co., for the life of the duvet.

Higher quality duvets will provide a wider comfort range; they will be warmer in the winter, and cooler in the summer than lower quality duvets. This is because higher quality down is better at all the things that down is famous for (such as insulation, lightness, breathability, etc) than lower quality down.

Temperature Range

Higher quality fills operate in a wider range of temperatures. It is always best to invest in the highest-quality fill possible.

Worth Every Penny - Review of St Geneve Embassy Duvet
5 out of 5 stars
10/24/2019
I bought my Embassy duvet a while ago. It's not often a purchase lives up to its promise over time but this one does: so well made, and light and airy as the proverbial cloud. TMASC was a delight to deal with and particular kudos to Daniel for his patience in walking me through options. I seldom use the hvac in my apartment with the result that my bedroom ranges from 13C to 27C depending on the season. Knowing that I worried about overheating--I sleep hot--Daniel recommended that I go with the summer weight. In the end I opted for an extra ounce of down, placing my duvet somewhere between a summer and a classic. If I had a do-over I would stick with Daniel's initial advice as on the really hot nights I do end kicking off the duvet. But on most days the duvet is fine in the summer and it's heavenly in the cold.
