Our vegan-friendly mattress choices

  • Berkeley Ergonomics

    Our Berkeley Ergonomics mattresses are usually made with sheep's wool. Wool regulates temperature and humidity and is regarded as one of the best thermoregulators for mattresses. Wool also serves as a natural fire barrier, ensuring safety and compliance with the strict fire-retardant laws that originated in California.

    For a vegan-friendly alternative to wool, Berkeley Ergonomics will substitute this natural animal fibre for linen batting. Linen fibre is 100% natural, made from flax. This crop produces a breathable fibre that wicks moisture well. However, linen fibre does not offer comparable fire-retardant properties to sheep's wool.

    When a mattress is quilted with linen batting, the sleep surface is stiffer and less elastic. This reduction in point elasticity will reduce the benefits of the comfort and support materials in the mattress.

  • Synthetic Materials

    Mattresses made exclusively from synthetic materials, such as polyurethane foam and polyester fibre, are considered vegan-friendly. Polyurethane foam comes in many types, including viscoelastic (memory) foam, high-density foam, high-resilience foam and more. These foams can be infused with gel, copper, graphite or carbon, to name a few.

Do you keep mattresses in stock?

Yes! Our warehouses in Calgary, Edmonton & St. Albert stock nearly every mattress model in popular sizes. We offer in-home delivery or same-day pickup.

In addition, our stores in Calgary, Edmonton, and Sherwood Park stock popular bed-in-a-box mattresses, which are available for immediate pickup and loading into almost any vehicle.

Our Edmonton store features an attached warehouse with additional on-hand inventory.

Will you remove my old mattress?

Yes! For our local customers in the Calgary & Edmonton areas, we can remove unwanted mattresses and/or boxsprings for a flat fee of $30 per piece, on a one-to-one basis with your newly delivered mattress.
