Memory Foam Mattresses

Memory foam mattresses are typically a good choice for those seeking maximum comfort at a minimal cost. Many of our memory foam mattresses feature a combination of pocket coils and memory foam. Using pocket coils as the base support layer results in a more durable and supportive mattress than relying on a high-density foam core.

Our memory foam is typically gel-infused, and when appropriate, our memory foam mattresses are constructed in the traditional two-sided fashion. Two-sided mattresses are symmetrical and can be flipped over, so they not only last longer, but they will also wear more evenly.

Types of Foam in Mattresses & Bedding

  • 100% Natural Latex Mattresses & Pillows in Canada

    About Latex Foam

Latex foam is a high-elasticity material that is typically made from a blend of 60-70% synthetic (styrene-butadiene) latex and 30-40% natural (rubber-free) latex.

    • Natural latex (rubber tree milk)
    • Synthetic latex (styrene-butadiene)
    • Latex foam is produced using the Talalay, Dunlop, and Continuous Pour methods. When made to a high standard, Talalay latex is superior in every measurable way
    • TMASC offers Vita Talalay latex, considered the finest latex on the planet
    • If you want an organic material, our t•masc mattresses feature 100% GOLS-certified organic Dunlop latex
    • High-quality latex foam is the most expensive type of foam found in mattresses, but it is also the most durable and supportive
    • Latex foam is the most elastic foam. The Elastic Bed Principle explains why elasticity is the most important factor in choosing a great mattress
  • The gel-infused memory foam is shown here with the cover removed.

    About Memory Foam

    • Memory foam is a type of polyurethane foam
    • Memory foam mattresses include either a spring unit or a standard foam base
    • Memory foam is often layered or zoned with standard polyurethane foam
    • Gel, cooling, copper and graphite foam are all varieties of polyurethane memory foam
    • Memory foam is generally more durable than standard foam
    • Memory foam is an inexpensive material and costs only marginally more to produce than standard foam
  • About Polyurethane Foam

"Traditional" foam is polyurethane foam. This foam type is found in virtually all mass-produced mattresses sold in North America today. Many standard foam mattresses also incorporate springs, latex or memory foam.

Some polyurethane foams claim to be made from plant-based materials. While it is possible to replace a portion of the petrochemical content with a plant-derived polyol, from a chemistry standpoint, these are no different from their oil-based counterparts, and we consider this a form of "greenwashing."

Polyurethane foam is the lowest-cost type of foam to produce. There are many varieties of polyurethane foam found in mattresses and bedding, including our favourite, high-resiliency (HR) foam:

    • HR foam is the most durable type of polyurethane foam
    • Although HR foam is polyurethane foam, it is desirable as it mimics some of the characteristics of latex foam, and it does not cost much more to produce HR foam compared to standard polyurethane foam
    • HR foam is rare in North America. You'll typically only find this material in Europe & Asia

To know which type(s) of foam a specific mattress contains, read the law label attached to the finished mattress.
